LYRICS

Safe
©2006 Lyrics by Molly Knight Music by MK & Ben-John McCall

You could call me stranger. You could call me guilty as accused.

You could call me nothing. You could call me filthy, stained, or used.

Even though these things would all seem true
These are not the names I hear from You

In the night when I lie in tears asking what You see
It’s Your sweet, tender-voice I hear that bids me to believe
You call me daughter. You call me child.
You call me sweetly into your embrace.
Where I am loved & I am safe.

I could call you Master. I could call you Righteous Judge & King
I could call you Sovereign. I could call you Lord of Everything
Even though these things would all be true
They don’t touch the Sweetest Part of You

In the night when I lie in tears asking who You are
It’s Your sweet, tender-voice I hear that opens up my heart
I call You Father. You call me child.
You call me sweetly into your embrace
where I am loved & I am safe.
I’m your daughter. I am your child.
I am sweetly wrapped in your embrace
Where I am loved & I am safe.

You blessed us when you called us friends but that was not enough for You You’re the Generous, Generous One. You’ve called us Your daughters & Sons.

Undo My Mind
©2008 Lyrics by Molly Knight Music by MK & Ben-John McCall

Undo my mind
from things I think I know and tangled webs I weave
Dig down below
beneath the stubborn roots
of lies that I believe
Hold me together as You undo me

Undo my mind
from memories that play whenever they decide
Come wash away
insecurities that slay me
a little at a time
Hold me together as You undo me

Invade my understanding. Reframe my history.
Come Change my way of thinking. Won’t you come and undo me?
Undo my mind
from goals that I have set
and the standards I have raised.
Bring down the posts
that hold the heavy weight of loving people’s praise.
Hold me together as You undo me.

The Washer Song
©2004 Music & Lyrics by Molly Knight

Come and dance with me in my kitchen by the firelight

of a half a dozen candles that far outshine the moon.

Come find my eyes in the flicker of the shadows
and look beyond resistance to all that might be true.

Come dance with me to the rhythm of the washer
as it kindly does the dishes so that we can have our spin.

When they all come clean, we will sit down to our supper
just to dirty up those dishes so that we can dance again.

Ohh and I’ll lean into you
until the lines that separate us don’t matter anymore
as one is wrought from two
according to the wisdom of a pure and loving Lord.

Come dance with me in my backyard in the moonlight
barefoot on the grasses before they turn to brown.
We will swing and sway to the singing of the crickets
as they echo out a tune to take us round and round and round.

Come dance with me for about a half a century
or at least for the remainder of our allotted time
til each step and breath has become so familiar
that our movements are like water that’s been turned into wine.

Come dance with me
Will you dance with me?
Come and dance with me
In the moonlight like water, like wine ohh......like wine.

To Consider
©2007 Music & Lyrics by Molly Knight

Two hundred bucks and a ride to Montgomery
They stopped for a bite but she just wasn’t hungry
A few more hours,
she knew that her nightmare would be...history.

He told her everything would be fine and repeated his well-practiced lines:
It’s not a big deal- it happens everyday
It may hurt a little but the hurtin’ won’t stay
We made a mistake now there’s no other way
We’ve got the rest of our lives......to consider.

She stared at the floor then up at the ceiling
Steeled herself to any kind of feeling
A few more minutes,
she knew that her nightmare would be... history.

She told herself everything would be fine and repeated the well-practiced lines:
It’s not a big deal- it happens everyday
It may hurt a little but the hurtin’ won’t stay
I made a mistake now there’s no other way
I’ve got the rest of my life........ to consider

Sometimes when her family is sleeping,
the snowflakes fall on the sill by her bed.

She lets her mind wander and starts to sink under the weight of all her regrets.

On a cold night worn out from weeping
She dreamed of strong arms and a babe in them sleeping

She looked up into eyes
that told her her nightmare could be.....history

And He told her everything would be fine
and the tears flowed from a place in His side

He said it is a big deal- it happens everyday
The price isn’t easy, it’s already paid
Won’t you receive it? There’s no other way
You’ve got the rest of your life
You’ve got the rest of your life
You’ve got the rest of your life
to consider...
